Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of Brooklyn's most celebrated free playgrounds, sprawling across 1.6 acres at the foot of Atlantic Avenue between Brooklyn Heights and Red Hook. The park features four distinct play zones: Swing Valley (ten swing sets plus a Tarzan rope), Slide Mountain (two-story slides with rock-climbing access), Sandbox Village (a shaded 6,000-square-foot sandbox with wooden mini-bungalows), and the seasonal Water Lab (geysers, water jets, and a giant water table, open Memorial Day through September).
Admission is completely free. The playground is open sunrise to sunset daily, with the broader park open 6am–1am. Restrooms are available at Fornino restaurant on-site and in Quay Tower across from Sandbox Village. A CitiBike station and NYC Ferry stop (South Brooklyn route) make it easy to reach without a car. On warm days, the Water Lab draws large crowds — arriving before 10am on weekdays is strongly recommended.
