Pier 6 Playground at Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of New York City's most beloved outdoor play destinations, spanning a 1.6-acre site at the southern end of the park near Atlantic Avenue. Free to enter and open daily from sunrise to sunset, it features four distinct play zones designed for kids roughly ages 2–12.
Sandbox Village is a massive, shaded sandpit — arguably NYC's largest park sandbox — complete with faux log cabins for hide-and-seek and plenty of room for digging and building. Parents can rest on benches around the perimeter while little ones play. Slide Mountain features two-story slides built into a landscaped hill, along with climbing structures for bigger kids. Swing Valley offers 10+ swing sets including tot seats, twin swings, Tarzan ropes, and six-seated post swings set within a beautiful landscape. The Water Lab rounds out the experience with dynamic fountains, water channels, and a water-jet field — a must-visit on hot summer days.
Restrooms are available on-site at Pier 6 Fornino and Pier 6 Quay Tower. The park is easily reached by subway (A/C, 2/3, 4/5, F, R), bus (B61, B63), NYC Ferry at Pier 6, or Citi Bike. No registration or tickets required — just show up and play.
