Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) Academy brings its nationally recognized, problem-solving-first curriculum to the Upper West Side — its first New York City campus. Founded in 1993, AoPS is designed and taught by former math and science Olympians and targets advanced, highly motivated learners in grades 1–12.
The UWS campus offers small-group, in-person classes during the academic year (after school and on weekends) and two-week summer camps. Subjects include advanced mathematics, language arts, science, and computer science. For younger students (ages 6–13), the Beast Academy curriculum uses graphic-novel-style guides and challenging puzzles to build genuine mathematical thinking. Older students access AoPS's competition-prep tracks covering topics like number theory, combinatorics, and probability — ideal preparation for MATHCOUNTS and AMC.
This program is explicitly designed for advanced learners, not foundational or remedial support. A free consultation and readiness assessment is offered to prospective families before enrollment. Tuition consists of an annual registration fee, a curriculum fee, and trimester payments, with a $100 deposit credited toward the first trimester.
