La Escuelita

Founded in 2003, La Escuelita was one of the first Spanish-English dual-language preschools in New York City. This independent, non-profit school is deeply rooted in three core values: play-based learning, bilingualism, and diversity.

 

At La Escuelita, children engage in a curriculum that is both developmentally appropriate and child-centered. The school employs a play-based approach, recognizing that young children learn best through exploration and hands-on experiences. Classrooms are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

 

Bilingualism is at the heart of La Escuelita's mission. Children are immersed in Spanish, especially in the younger classes, gradually incorporating English as they progress. This approach fosters not only language proficiency but also cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Facilities include six thoughtfully designed classrooms, a cozy library, a spacious indoor gymnasium, and a private outdoor play area. These spaces are tailored to support the school's educational philosophy and the developmental needs of young children.

 

La Escuelita also offers additional programs, such as a Spanish immersion summer camp and afterschool enrichment classes for children in grades K-3 who have prior exposure to Spanish. These programs extend the school's commitment to bilingual education beyond the preschool years.
