The Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) Brooklyn offers a highly structured, academically rigorous after-school math enrichment program for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Located at 2583 Ocean Avenue in Sheepshead Bay, RSM's curriculum is rooted in the traditions of elite math schools from the former Soviet Union, adapted for the U.S. educational environment.
Classes meet weekly, with session lengths ranging from 1.5 hours for kindergarteners to 2–4 hours per week for high schoolers. With an average class size of around 12 students, RSM emphasizes verbal problem-solving, critical thinking, and exposure to multiple mathematical approaches. Subjects include arithmetic, geometry, algebra, and critical thinking, with SAT and AP prep available in upper grades. Multiple levels per grade ensure each child is placed based on ability, not just age.
New students begin with a free math evaluation to determine the appropriate class level.
