Pier 25 at Hudson River Park is one of NYC's most expansive waterfront playgrounds, stretching across 25,000 square feet right on the Hudson River in Tribeca. Families with kids from infants through early teens will find something for everyone: a dedicated toddler zone with small slides and a bouncy seesaw, a giant sandbox with communal toys, a seasonal splash pad, swings for all ages, and climbing structures including a spiderweb frame, horizontal climbing wall, and whale-themed structure for older kids.
Beyond the playground, the 985-foot pier — the longest in Hudson River Park — offers Manhattan's only 18-hole miniature golf course (fee applies), sand volleyball courts, a flexible turf field, a skate park, and seasonal snack bars. Restrooms are located at the West Street entrance. The views from the pier are stunning: the Hudson River, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Lower Manhattan skyline are all visible.
A few logistics to note: the splash pad pavement can be extremely slippery, and the playground's size and long climbing wall make it difficult to track multiple kids simultaneously. Three gated exits are present. The playground gets very busy on sunny summer days — weekday mornings or late afternoons are recommended for a calmer visit. Pier 26's Science Playground, just steps away, makes a great add-on with its giant sturgeon fish climbing structures.
