NYU Langone Health's Perinatal Education Department offers a comprehensive catalog of classes for expecting and new parents, covering everything from infant CPR and choking relief to newborn care, home safety, childbirth preparation, and breastfeeding support. Classes are taught by certified educators and are available in multiple formats: live online (livestreamed) sessions, self-paced eClasses (available in English and Spanish on any device), and some in-person options at their Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses.
Highlights include a live online Infant CPR & Choking Relief class taught by a certified instructor — parents practice alongside the instructor using a doll or stuffed animal at home. Note that this is an informational overview, not a CPR certification course. The Home Safety & Baby Proofing class is a 75-minute livestreamed session covering sleep and crib safety, childproofing, fire safety, and poisoning prevention for newborns through the toddler years ($40 for 2 participants). Lactation video visits are covered by most insurance plans. Registration is required for all sessions via NYU Langone's online portal; live virtual sessions are accessed through a MyChart account.
