The Jewish Board Loss and Bereavement Program for Children and Adolescents

Citywide
IndoorFree admission

The Jewish Board's Loss and Bereavement Program offers free, professionally facilitated grief support groups for children and adolescents ages 3–18 who have lost someone significant in their lives. Groups are age-matched and typically run for 10–12 weeks, meeting in-person at schools across NYC's five boroughs as well as virtually via Zoom.

In addition to youth grief groups, the program offers parallel workshops and groups for the caregivers and parents of grieving children, providing an opportunity to learn about common symptoms of child and teen grief and connect with other families. The Jewish Board also provides training, consultation, and community education to schools and professionals.

This is a non-sectarian program — nearly half of The Jewish Board's clients are not Jewish, and families of all backgrounds are welcome. Registration is required; contact the Loss and Bereavement Team directly to enroll or learn about upcoming group cycles, as schedules are not publicly listed and form on a rolling basis throughout the year.
