WeBop is Jazz at Lincoln Center's award-winning early-childhood jazz education program, inviting families with children ages 8 months to 5 years to stomp, strut, and swing to the joyous rhythms of jazz. Each 45-minute class is led by a WeBop teacher and a live pianist accompanist, weaving together live and recorded music, ritual songs, movement, storytelling, and small percussion instruments into a rich sensory experience.
Classes run in term-based sessions (typically 8 weeks) and are structured as a child-adult dyad — caregivers participate fully alongside their children, making it an ideal shared experience for families. Over the course of a term, families explore core jazz concepts such as swing, blues, and improvisation. Professional jazz musicians also visit classes twice per term for an extra-special live music moment. WeBop Family Jazz Party concerts are additionally available for children ages 8 months to 8 years. The program is held at Frederick P. Rose Hall inside the Deutsche Bank Center at Columbus Circle, a fully ADA-accessible venue with elevator access.
