The Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) has been nurturing curiosity and creativity in young children for over 50 years. Located in The Tisch Building at 212 West 83rd Street on the Upper West Side, CMOM offers hands-on exhibits and daily programming designed specifically for children ages 0–6, though some exhibits like Inside Art skew up to age 10.
Highlights include PlayWorks™ (birth–4), a sprawling third-floor exhibit with a play structure, pretend deli, Art Lab, and Alphie the talking dragon; Superpowered Metropolis™, an immersive comic book version of NYC for ages birth–6; Adventures with Dora and Diego for ages 2–6; and the seasonal outdoor Dynamic H2O water exhibit in the Sussman Environmental Center. Daily programming runs from Circle Time at 10:30 am through Alphie's Goodbye Storytime at 4:00 pm.
CMOM offers complimentary stroller check at entry (strollers not permitted in exhibits), free re-entry throughout the day, full wheelchair accessibility with elevator, and accessibility kits available at the admission desk. No outside food is permitted, though baby formula and water are allowed. CMOM is reachable via the 1 train to 86th Street or buses M7, M11, M86, and M104. Members enjoy unlimited admission, members-only early access on the first Saturday of each month, and discounts at 200+ children's museums nationwide. Note: CMOM has announced plans to relocate to a landmarked church at 96th Street and Central Park West.
