Travers Park

Jackson Heights
Stroller-friendlyOutdoorFree admission

Travers Park is a free 2-acre community park and the only official park in Jackson Heights, Queens. Located on 34th Avenue between 77th and 78th Streets, the park connects directly to Paseo Park, the 26-block pedestrian-and-cycling-friendly open street running from 69th Street to Junction Boulevard.

The park was fully rebuilt in 2020 and now features a great lawn surrounded by flowering trees, a performance area with stadium seating, and an expanded play area with equipment for all age groups. Younger children enjoy a dedicated toddler section while older kids have their own play area, plus a distinctive leaf-and-vine shaped spray shower for warm-weather water play.

Additional amenities include basketball courts, tennis courts, handball courts, a dog run, picnic tables, benches, public restrooms, and a bicycle rack. The expanded plaza at 78th Street allows seamless access between 77th and 79th Streets, making the park highly stroller-friendly. The park is managed in partnership with Friends of Travers Park, a program of the Jackson Heights Beautification Group (JHBG).
