Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Social Work Bereavement Program offers free help by phone, support groups, educational lectures, and referrals to community resources for families and friends of patients treated at MSK. Social workers have expertise in the psychological, social, spiritual, and practical dimensions of grief.
Programs include a Bereavement Support Group for Widowed Parents (an online group for parents of minor children grieving the loss of a partner to cancer at MSK), 8-week closed groups for partner loss and parent loss, and an ongoing monthly open group. MSK Kids' Towards Tomorrow Program provides dedicated bereavement support for families whose child was treated at MSK Kids. The Counseling Center offers individual, couples, and family therapy, and Spiritual Care chaplains are available to anyone regardless of religion.
