92NY (formerly the 92nd Street Y) is one of New York City's most comprehensive family destinations, offering a full spectrum of children's and family programming at its iconic Carnegie Hill campus. Founded in 1874, 92NY's children's division spans infants through teens with programs including a renowned nursery school, enrichment classes, afterschool care, summer camps, and a dedicated parenting center.
The 92NY Nursery School, established in 1938, serves children ages 2.6–5 in a play-based, inquiry-driven environment across 11 classrooms on the 6th and 2nd floors, complete with a children's library. A 2s Separation Program eases younger toddlers into the school experience three days per week. Nursery School admissions are competitive, with siblings of enrolled and alumni children receiving priority.
The Afterschool Program for grades K–5 offers school pickup, homework help via the Clubhouse (open until approximately 6:30 PM), and enrichment in art, music, dance, theater, sports, gymnastics, swim, and martial arts — all under one roof. The Lipschultz Parenting Center supports expecting and new parents with classes in childbirth, baby massage, baby yoga, CPR, sleep, and language development. Summer programming includes Camp K'Ton Ton and options for children with IEPs. Scholarships are available across programs.
